What is the Mass in Grams of 2.0 Moles of NO2

What is the Mass in Grams of 2.0 moles of NO2?

This article will show you how to calculate the mass of NO2 from moles of NO2. The full form of NO2 in chemistry is Nitrogen Dioxide. The compound is the gas form.

To calculate the mass of NO2 in grams first you need to calculate the molar mass of the gas. So NO2 has one nitrogen and 2 molecules of O2.

The molar mass (also called molecular weight) of NO2

= molecular weight of nitrogen + (2 * molecular weight of oxygen)

                                        = 14.0067 + (2 * 15.999)

                                        =  46.0047 g/mol

Now we can calculate the weight of gas by using the following formula

Moles of NO2 = Weight of NO2 gas / Molar mass of NO2 gas

Rearrange the formula and plug in the values

So,

Weight (or mass ) of NO2 gas  = Moles of NO2 * Molar mass of NO2 gas

                                                  = 2 * 46.0047............................... (moles of NO2 given: 2.0)

                                                  = 92.01 g

That is to say mass in grams of 2.0 moles of NO2 gas is 92.01 g.
