ZSM-5 Full Name | HZSM-5 Catalyst Full Form

ZSM-5 Full Name | HZSM-5 Catalyst Full Form

The ZSM-5 full name is Zeolite Socony Mobil-5. It has a framework type MFI. It is an aluminosilicate and belongs to pentasil family of zeolites. The ZSM-5 catalysts are commercially available in the form of ammonia ZSM-5 or protonated HZSM-5 with different Si/Al ratios.

The chemical formula of this zeolite is NanAlnSi96-nO19216H2O.

Discovery of ZSM-5

The ZSM-5 was first developed and patented by Mobil Oil company in 1975.

ZSM-5 catalyst properties

  • It is a white crystalline powder
  • The ZSM-5 pore size ranges from 5.4 to 5.6 angstrom
  • Has strong acidity
  • Acidity can be modified by changing Si/Al ratio
  • Has high thermal stability
  • Excellent shape selectivity

ZSM-5 uses

  • The catalyst itself is widely used as heterogeneous catalyst or support material for catalysis. For example, Zn impregnated on ZSM-5 using wet impregnation.
  • ZSM-5 is a shape selective catalyst
    • Xylene isomerization
    • Toluene disproportionation
    • Ethylbenzene synthesis
    • Para-toluene synthesis
    • In the conversion of methanol to gasoline, olefins, aromatics
I hope this article helped you to know the full form and related information of ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst.

What Is the Full Form Of UV

The full form of UV is Ultraviolet and it a form of electromagnetic radiation. The word “Ultraviolet” also means beyond violet. The wavelength ranges from 10 - 400 nm. Since these waves are shorter than the visible light most humans cannot see the UV rays.

Following are the abbreviations of UV subdivided into a number of ranges

Who and When was UV rays Discovered

The UV radiation was discovered by the German physicist John Wilhelm Ritter in 1801.

Common applications of UV

  • Water Purifiers – In RO UV water purifiers, UV radiation kills harmful bacteria and germs
  • UV sterilizer (UV light Sanitizer)
  • UV spectroscopy

NTP Full form in Chemistry, Medical and Engineering

NTP Full form in Chemistry

You may haven often seen this abbreviationNTP in the field of chemistry, medical and engineering thermodynamics. The NTP full form is normal temperature pressure condition and is defined as air at 20°C (293 k ) and 1 atm (101.325 kN/m2, 101.325 kPa, 14.7 psia, 0 psig, 29.92 in Hg, 407 in H2O, 760 torr). Density 1.204 kg/m3 (0.075 pounds per cubic foot)

Under these conditions the volume of air or any gas (also called molar volume) at 1 mol is 24.0548 liters

Example 1

Calculate the volume of 0.223 moles of nitrogen at NTP

Solution:

At NTP condition, 1 mol of nitrogen at P =1 atm and T= 293 K occupies 24.0548 liters

So, Volume of 0.223 moles of Nitrogen = 24.0548 * 0.223 = 5.3642 liters

Example 2

Calculate the moles of 5.37 liters of nitrogen at NTP condition

Solution:

The molar volume of Nitrogen at NTP condition = 24.0548 liters

So,

Moles of Nitrogen at NTP = 5.37 / 24.0548 = 0.223 moles

 What is STP in Chemistry

The STP full form in chemistry is standard temperature pressure. The standard temperature-pressure (STP) condition is defined as 0 degree Celsius (273 K or 32°F) and 1 atmosphere of pressure. The term is frequently used in the field of chemistry, physics, and thermodynamics.

The term STP is used to state the properties like volume, viscosity, density, etc as they often change with respect to pressure and temperature.
