Applications of TEOS
The tetraethyl orthosilicate is used for the following
applications
- Chemical vapor deposition, precursor to silicon dioxide in the semiconductor industry
- In catalysis, chemical liquid deposition of TEOS is used as silicon dioxide source to passivate external surface of zeolites to increase the shape selectivity
- In synthesis of some zeolites, TEOS is used as silica source
- Crosslinking agent in silicon polymers
- Coating of carpets
- Production of aerogels
